When you register for President’s Academy, you will:

  • Have the option to add a tour for you and your guest in Athens on May 20th.

The cost of the tours will be invoiced to you post conference.

Please note: All tours are optional and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Minimum and maximum numbers of participants are required for most tours.

Practice Credits are eligible for your optional tour selections for you and your guest.

Acropolis Museum and Plaka Walking Tour

On this tour you will explore the narrow cobblestone streets of the famous Plaka neighborhood, known for its quaint village feel within a big city prior to a visit to the Acropolis Museum. This archaelogical museum focusses on all of the findings at the Acropolis. This museum was built to house every artifact found on the rock, from the Greek Bronze Age to Roman and Byzantine Greece. It also lies on the archaeological site of Makrygianni and the ruins of a part of Roman and Byzantine Athens.

On this leisurely walking tour, stroll through some of the city’s most interesting neighbourhoods – some of which are rarely visited by tourists. Visit food markets and carefully selected deli stores, where your knowledgeable guide will help you familiarize yourself with the most famous flavours of Greek cuisine. Discover the pleasures of Greek coffee, baklava (a traditional sweet pastry with nuts), bougatsa (a traditional pastry with sweet cream filling), koulouri (a sesame bread ring beloved by Greeks for breakfast), loukoumades (little honey donuts), taverna tastings (a variety of traditional plates), Greek olive oil, tsipouro shots, and of course, the famous souvlaki.

This relaxed and enjoyable ride starts a stone’s throw away from the Acropolis. Begin exploring the city, passing by the Acropolis Museum, where your guide will talk about the famous Acropolis Hill and Parthenon. There will be stops at several historic highlights of Athens, including the Kerameikos cemetery, the Thission neighborhood, the ancient Greek and Roman agoras, and the Orthodox Cathedral.

Visit the scenic Plaka, making a short stop at the local market, ride through the beautiful National Gardens and cycle past the Presidential Mansion with its impressive ceremonial Presidential Guards. After a short visit to the Panathenaic Stadium, where the first modern Olympic Games took place, we will end this memorable experience in front of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch – one of the best photo opportunities in Athens.
